Carpet Cleaning Without Professional Equipment
Equipment needed to deep clean carpets
Hoover
Sodium Bicarbonate
Sponge
A quarter-cap of fabric softener mixed with the remaining water in the spray bottle can be used to make a solution of fabric conditioner.
Carpets need to be deep cleaned!
Step 1
Remove furniture that can be moved from the room. It is also possible to clean the area around the furniture if this is not possible.
Make things easier by emptying everything out of the furniture first.
Although it may seem obvious, drawers and their contents can often be heavy, but they can be easily removed which makes things easier.
Here is a tip – try sliding the furniture into place.
Consider sliding a piece of cardboard under the legs of the furniture and then across the carpet, this should reduce friction between the furniture and the carpet.
Step 2
The carpets should be sprinkled with bicarbonate of soda 30 minutes before they are cleaned. This will ensure that the carpets do not smell.
Step 3
Make sure that you vacuum the whole room, including the corners as well.
Step 4
When dealing with stains such as dried food or playdoh, spray the
carpet cleaning with the fabric conditioner/water solution and let it sit for 10 minutes.
Step 5
If you use a squeegee, make sure you squeegee the whole room!
