Welcome to NGC 7496.
Hubble previously looked at this spiral galaxy to better understand the relationship between young stars and the cold, dense clouds of gas in which they form. The Hubble image includes observations taken in ultraviolet, visible, and near-infrared light:
NASA's James Webb Space Telescope peered at the same galaxy with its mid-infrared instrument and found that its spiral arms are filled with cavernous bubbles and shells overlapping one another. These filaments and hollow cavities are evidence of young stars releasing energy!
This is just one of several spiral galaxies that Webb is studying in order to learn more about how star formation impacts galactic evolution
