It is manufactured under heat and pressure into rigid sheets with thicknesses ranging from 0.1 mm to 100 mm, with the most commonly used range being 0.3 mm to 1.5 mm.

Rigid mica sheets are valued for their excellent mechanical strength and high dielectric properties, with a dielectric breakdown voltage of up to 16 kV/mm. In terms of thermal resistance, muscovite rigid mica sheets withstand temperatures of 500–700 °C, while phlogopite rigid mica sheets perform reliably at even higher ranges of 750–950 °C.
