The chin is one of the most important parts of one’s facial structure. It provides the face with unique character, distinction, and essential support to the remaining structure of your face.

An aesthetic facial profile will have harmony in the facial features like nose, lips, and chin. However, people are having recessive chins because of which they look prematurely aged and experience a lack of support to the jowls and soft tissues.

Chin recession usually occurs because of misaligned facial bones and rarely due to jaw occlusion or teeth misalignment. People with misaligned facial bones can achieve younger-looking faces permanently with chin augmentation surgery using chin implants. The surgery starts by taking X-rays of the chin and facial bones to spot the part of the chin to operate on. To place a chin implant, the surgeon makes an incision either inside the mouth or externally under the chin. The surgeon creates a pocket in front of the chin bone and beneath the chin, muscles to place the implant inside it. The surgeon may either place a real bone or fat tissue or an implant composed of silicone, dacron, Teflon, or the latest biological inserts. The chin implant is often stitched or screwed to the chin bone. Lastly, the surgeon closes the incision with sutures.
