The story is interesting with reference to the subject of sociology. The author clearly reveals the behaviors exhibited by human beings from a sociological perspective. All people, unlike other creatures, are dependent on one another, not via instinct, but through interaction and learning.

The story commences by telling about a television episode in which astronauts were trapped in another planet. Sociology is about authority, alienation, community, status, and lack of power (Long Smith, 1931). These themes are looked at through the prism of ethnicity, race, class, social interaction, and family. The astronauts found themselves trapped revealing their lack of power and authority on the foreign planet, just like many persons do. Among human beings, it is normal that certain persons have power over others, and the subjects cannot do anything to reverse the situation.

The story is comprehensible. It is outlining the various aspects of the mankind. Right from the start, it reveals that people, unlike animals, are not bound to follow specified paths in their lives. They can choose the path to follow depending on what they learn (Spitz, 1945). It is learning from the members of a society about the ways of life. There was a period in which it was believed that women were limited in terms of what they could do. This belief though was a theory the society had developed and made women believe it.

In conclusion, the author has used many examples such as social bees, animals, the aliens, and symbols among other things to communicate in the story. The author clarified that human beings are social in nature and thus cannot be separated from them. The social aspects of mortals make them need one another in order to understand the standards and norms expected in the society. It is easy to know oneself via looking around and picking what is desirable to be a driving force in life.
