Serkan Altay works as a portfolio manager at QNB Asset Management. In his previous roles, Serkan was involved with analyzing and researching public equities for pension funds such as BCI in Victoria, British Columbia. In his role, Serkan worked on the portfolio management team for Canadian equities, with an active mandate to outperform the underlying index.
Following his role at BCI, Serkan was the Director of Investments at Victoria Foundation, where he was involved in shaping the foundation's portfolio into alternative investments such as private, infrastructure funds, long volatility products and a portfolio of impact investing opportunities. Serkan was also in charge of manager searches and provided new ideas for shaping the foundation's investment portfolio in order to better align the foundation's investment objectives with its granting initiatives. This involved divesting from a number of industries that ran contrary to the foundation's stated aim of providing support for the community of Greater Victoria.
In his role at Rally Assets, Serkan was managing a global equity impact fund as well as a multi class impact fund that included additional asset classes such as private debt and equity as well as direct investments.
Serkan was also the impact investment advisor for the Laidlaw Foundation in Toronto, where he was in charge of auditing the foundation's impact investments, while providing investment and strategy recommendations. He was also instrumental in the foundation's quest to prepare an "Investment Beliefs" document that articulated the foundation’s goals for sustainable investing.
