Honkai: Star Rail players anticipate Jingliu's arrival, though some may ponder how she will return after her presumed demise.
Honkai: Star Rail players are waiting for Jingliu to come back, but some may wonder how she'll do that since she was thought to be dead.
Honkai: So far, the people in Star Rail are colourful and interesting. Players talked for a long time about how the Trailblazer compares to the Traveller from Genshin Impact. This shows how much they've been into the game since it came out in April. If the various character stories are true, players could be in for a fun time.
The interesting thing about the rumoured characters in Honkai: Star Rail is that they could give a hint—or a spoiler, based on how people look at it—about what to expect in the future storyline of the game. Jingliu was a character that people were excited about.
Who Is Honkai: Star Rail's Jingliu?
Jingliu was a sword master from the Xianzhou Luofu who taught Jing Yuan, who was a five-star banner character. People said that she went crazy after giving in to Mara, which is what happens when you get life from eating the fruit of Yaoshi. This was also hinted at in "A Flash," an animation short from Honkai: Star Rail in which Jingliu fought Jing Yuan and lost.
From what the short showed, Jingliu seemed to have been killed by her student. But character leaks show that she might be a five-star Ice-element character who comes after the Path of Destruction. She was also in the Honkai: Star Rail Version 1.1 trailer, where she was fighting with Yanqing with a sword. This pretty much proved that she would be in the game in the future. Jingliu looked different this time, though, because she had a cover over her eyes.
How Jingliu Can Return to Honkai: Star Rail
If Jingliu died before the events of Honkai: Star Rail, then she could be brought back to life in some way. Players thought that Luocha, who is the second five-star character in Version 1.1, might be carrying Jingliu's body in the coffin he takes around. He gave hints in the game that it held something (or someone) important, but the whole thing is still a secret.
Since Luocha follows the Path of Abundance and can heal friends, it's likely that he was able to heal Jingliu of her Mara curse. But no one knows if he can bring someone back to life. Right now, Bailu is the only one who can bring people back to life, so he could also help Jingliu come back.
In Honkai: Star Rail, it was also shown that Fu Xuan could use the Matrix of Prescience to briefly bring the dead back to the world of the living. This was shown in "A Teacher and a Friend: Continued," a side quest in which the Trailblazers helped a grieving student talk to their dead teacher. Fu Xuan might be able to do the same with Jingliu, especially since she is the head of Xianzhou Luofu's Divination Commission and works closely with Jing Yuan.
On the other hand, Jingliu might not have died at all, since she gave birth to Mara. When players get to Xianzhou Luofu, the second world the Trailblazers visit in free games, they will meet Mara-Struck Soldiers. Most of the time, these enemies come back to life after dying. After the fight with Jing Yuan, Jingliu might have done the same thing and just gone into hiding.
Now, the only question is if Jingliu will come back as a good or bad person. Honkai: Star Rail has made it clear that players can, in fact, root for characters like Kafka and Blade, who are probably bad guys in the story. So, this new version of Jingliu could go either way, and it will be interesting to see how her appearance changes the Xianzhou Luofu storyline.Star Rail is still in its early stages, says Honkai. It has a lot of room and time to build an interesting story in future updates, and some players hope that Jingliu will come back.
Honkai: Star Rail is now available for PCs and phones. Versions for the PS4 and PS5 are being made.
