The Gulmarg Gondola, often referred to as the “Gulmarg Cable Car,” is a magnificent cable car system nestled in the picturesque region of Gulmarg, located in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. As one of the highest operating cable cars globally, the Gulmarg Gondola offers visitors a chance to ascend to great heights, immersing themselves in the breathtaking beauty of the region.

The Gulmarg Gondola is a two-stage gondola lift in Gulmarg. It is the second longest and second highest cable car in the world, reaching a height of 3,979 meters (13,058 ft).

The first stage of the gondola was completed in 1998 and the second stage in 2005. The gondola has 36 cabins and 18 towers, and can transport up to 600 people per hour.

The gondola ride starts from the Gulmarg resort at an altitude of 2,650 meters (8,694 ft) and takes passengers to Kongdoori Mountain, a shoulder of nearby Apharwat Peak (4,260 m (13,976 ft)). The first stage of the ride takes passengers to Kongdoori Station in the bowl shaped Kongdori valley, at an altitude of 3,080 meters (10,100 ft). The second stage of the ride takes passengers to the highest point of the gondola, at an altitude of 3,980 meters (13,058 ft).

The Gulmarg Gondola is a popular tourist attraction, offering visitors stunning views of the Himalayas and the surrounding valleys. The gondola is also used by skiers and snowboarders to access the ski slopes of Gulmarg.
