The Park is named after former Prime mister of India "Indira Gandhi" who visited this park on 7 Oct. 1961,  it is located in the Annamalai Hill of Pollachi, Velparai and Udumalpet Taluks in the Coimbatore district of Tamil Nadu state in India.

Although Anamalai Tiger Reserve does not have an airport or a train station it is well connected to many of the nearby major cities and villages. The closest airport and train station are in Coimbatore, and you can take a taxi or use public transportation there to go to Pollachi quickly and cheaply.
