BOPP packaging tapes are well known for their exceptional performance and versatility in various industries. These tapes will be tested accurately against different factors to ensure accuracy in test results. Peel strength is considered to be one of the essential properties that should be tested to ensure that these tapes perform well in the packaging industry. Thus, we at Presto have designed a high-quality lab testing instrument known as a peel/seal/bond strength tester to test the peel strength of BOPP tapes.

With the use of this highly standardized laboratory testing equipment manufacturers can easily test the peel strength of adhesives and ensure that quality materials will be delivered. In this blog, we will discuss brief information about the Presto peel/seal/bond strength tester and how you can easily test the peel strength of BOPP packaging tapes with the help of this quality testing equipment.

But first, we will discuss a brief about BOPP tapes and their uses in packaging.

What are BOPP tapes and their use in packaging?

BOPP packaging tapes, also known as Biaxial Oriented Polypropylene Tapes, have gained significant popularity in the packaging industry due to their superior strength and adhesive properties. However, ensuring that these tapes meet the required quality standards is of utmost importance to guarantee a secure and reliable packaging solution.

This is where testing for peel strength becomes crucial in evaluating the performance of BOPP packaging tapes. By subjecting BOPP tapes to rigorous peel strength tests, manufacturers can accurately measure their adhesion capabilities under different conditions such as temperature variations or mechanical stress during transportation.

Presto high-quality peel strength tester for adhesives will accurately test the peel strength of BOPP tapes and ensure that quality materials will be delivered to the customers.

There are different types of quality tests that will be conducted with the help of this quality testing equipment that includes:

  • T-PEEL TEST

  • 90 DEGREE PEEL STRENGTH TEST

  • 180 DEGREE PEEL TEST

You can read more on the types of adhesive tests that will be conducted with the help of the Presto peel strength tester. Now, let us discuss brief information about the Presto peel strength tester.

All about Presto peel strength tester

Presto’s bond tester is used to calculate the permanence of the adhesion ability of self-adhesive force-sensitive products. The adhesion strength of a product is defined as the pressure required for separating a coated substance, which has been applied to a normal test plate under specified circumstances, from another plate placed at a specified angle with a predetermined velocity. The product is designed and manufactured as per international standards.

The peel tester is ideal for measuring tear, peel and other frictional properties of adhesives, laminates & BOPP packaging films and many more. This testing instrument has been designed with two grips to perform the test accurately.

You can even test the bond strength test between substrates with a peel strength tester. Below we have listed the high-end features and technical specifications of this quality testing equipment.

Working of peel strength tester for testing peel strength of BOPP films

If you want to test the peel strength of BOPP films, then you can follow the steps mentioned below.

  • Whenever you conduct the peel strength test on BOPP films, then you need to prepare the testing specimen first. This can be done by dipping one end of the strip into a toluene solution up to 25 mm. This will delaminate that area of the strip.

  • Then turn ON the machine & place the upper side of the specimen between the upper fixed grips and tighten the grip firmly.

  • Now bring the lower movable grip upwards so that the specimen can easily reach the grips. Now place the lower end of the specimen between the lower grips and tighten the grip firmly.

  • When all the above steps have been followed, then you can easily commence the test with the help of this quality testing equipment.

In this way, you can easily conduct peel strength tests on the packaging films.
