How to Get More Gil Out of Your Characters in FFXIV

One of the most tried and true ways to make Gil is through the Market Board. Many items sell well here and can earn players a substantial amount of money in the short term. Another great way to rake in the Gil is through FATEs. Activating a FATE rewards players with good amounts of gil along with experience and Grand Company seals.

Gathering

Having a gathering class like a Botanist or a Miner will net the player a decent amount of Gil through selling material on the Market Board. This isn’t the most consistent way to make money, but it doesn’t cost the player any real-world currency.

Another good source of gil comes from running daily “Leveling” roulettes, especially with the release of Endwalker. These roulettes give the player a combination of experience, Grand Company Seals, Cracked Clusters, Mhachi Material, and gil. Gardening is another slow but steady method of making gil in f14 gil. If the player has a Free Company house or personal home and enough leisure time, they can plant crops such as Thavnairian Onions to sell for a nice profit. Gardening is sort of Final Fantasy meets Harvest Moon or Stardew Valley, but it can be very profitable for players willing to put in the effort. Lastly, there are the Treasure Maps. These can be a bit of RNG but the rewards can be significant.

Crafting

While it may seem counterintuitive to tell players to focus on crafting, the reality is that crafting and gathering can be one of the most consistent and reliable ways to make gil in FFXIV. While leveling a crafter Job, such as a Botanist or Miner can take a while, once those Jobs reach Level 10, they start to earn quite a bit from their turn-ins at the Market Board. Retainers can also bring back a wide range of items that can be turned into gil. They can do this by bringing back materials that crafters use (such as the Diadem for Restoration) or by selling them on the Market Board.

Another great way to make gil is by participating in FATEs. These events can be an effective way to make gil, especially as they become more frequent in the Shadowbringers and Endwalker expansions. Additionally, players can participate in treasure map parties to receive a good amount of gil in a short period of time.

FATEs

Despite their name, FATEs (or Full Active Time Events) are not the best way to make Gil in FF14. These dynamic public events provide EXP, Seals, and other rewards but don't offer a huge amount of money. The best part about these adventures is that they're a great way to level up your character's role if you're in need of it.

While they're not a quick or reliable method of gil-making, players should keep an eye on the Market Board for new items that can be sold at high prices. For example, Stormblood's Eureka and Shadowbringers' Bosjan Southern Front contain rare gear that can sell for millions. Another good marketable item is thavnairian onions, which can be grown at home or a Free Company house. However, these crops are slow to mature and require a lot of watering. Still, they can make a significant amount of gil for those who're patient enough to grow them.

Market Board

One of the best ways to make Gil in FF14 is through the market board. By buying low-level items and then selling them when they’re restocked, players can make significant profits. However, this method is risky for new players and is better suited to those who have a certain amount of capital saved up before starting this route.

Taking a gathering class will not net as much gil as crafting but it is still an easy way to make money. All that is required is the player to look at what’s on the market board and see what sells for a decent price. Gathering is also an ideal activity to do while watching a TV show. For those that are looking to do something more active, Treasure Maps are a great way to earn a steady stream of Gil. They are a bit of a gamble but if done properly can yield decent loot that will sell well on the market board.
