Lieutenant Colonel David Ginn was born in Hobart, Indiana, on 29 November 1981. He graduated from Rutherford High School in May of 2000. He began his initial enlistment, in the United States Army Reserves, assigned to the 495th Transportation Company, Lakeland, Florida. While at the rank of SPC, MAJ Ginn received an ROTC scholarship, from Florida Southern College, in Lakeland, Florida. In April of 2005, he earned his Bachelor’s Degree, majoring in computer science, minoring in mathematics, from Florida Southern College. MAJ Ginn received his commission, into the Regular Army, as a Transportation Officer. He was subsequently assigned to the 594th Transportation Company, Fort Campbell, Kentucky.
