Good People With a Bad Record

Every saint has a dark past. Even good people make wrong choices and costly mistakes. Actually it is their bad past that mold and shape them into good people. They've faced the hash consequences of their choices, paid the high cost for their mistakes, and tasted the bitter experience of regret. They've been toughened by trials and cleansed by tears. They've been taught by unforgettable experiences and have graduated from the School of Hard Knocks. They've walked past the gates of hell and through the jaws of death, and they have permanent scars and deep wounds to prove it. They've tried it all, been through it all, done it all and seen it all. They've learned their lessons and are ready to start a new life. They don't need constant reminders of where they've been. They're trying hard to forget the past and make a fresh start. Give them hope not "I told you so" lectures. Give them a chance to gather their broken pieces, space to rebuild their lives, time to outgrow and overcome their past, and the opportunity to prove their repentance and to earn your trust. Society may shun them, family and friends may judge them, banks may deny them credit, employers my refuse to hire them but to such Jesus says, "Zacchaeus, come down immediately. I must stay at your house today." Luke 19:5. "I do not condemn you, either. Go and sin no more." John 8:11
