In 1948, Swiss pharmacologist Peter Witt studied the effect of drugs on spiders. He conducted an experiment in which he dosed the spiders by feeding them drugged flies or by giving them a drop of a drug in water. He then photographed their webs before and after the drugs were administered. These were the results.
In 1957, researchers noted that spiders on low doses of LSD were “unaware of outside influences and concentrated on the job.” Their webs showed consistent regularity.
On depressants, “they ‘forgot’ to finish what they had started and the result was a very ineffective food-gathering device.”

The last photo taken of Hachikō, a Japanese Akita dog remembered for his unwavering loyalty to his owner.
Hachikō belonged to Professor Eizaburo Ueno who lived in Shibuya and taught at Tokyo Imperial University during the early 1920s.
Every day, Ueno would walk to Shibuya Station with Hachikō and take the train to work. Once he was done for the day, he would take the train back and return to the station at precisely 3 PM. Hachikō would always be there waiting patiently to accompany the professor home.
One day, Ueno suffered a stroke and never arrived at the station. Hachikō went to the station every day for 9 years until his death in 1935.

Every December 25th, inhabitants of Chumbivilcas Province near Cuzco in Peru celebrate "Takanakuy" (Quechua for "when the blood is boiling", an annual and ancient celebration inherited from the pre-hispanic Chanka culture.
On that day, men, women, and children gather together to settle grudges from the past year by calling each other out and having fist fights. Afterwards, everyone drinks together to help with the pain and to start the new year on a clean slate.
