Defying Labels is more than just a name; it's a movement created by Patty Flores, who brings with her lived experiences as a former foster youth, queer immigrant, and survivor of both homelessness and juvenile incarceration. Patty's advocacy is deeply informed by her lived experience and over ten years of empowering youth in foster care. Patty provides a distinct and critical perspective when examining systems. As a keynote speaker in Los Angeles County, and elsewhere internationally, Patty has leveraged her voice to challenge stereotypes, uplift marginalized communities, and demand systemic change. Defying Labels' work ultimately goes against assumptions and redefines leadership, resilience, and justice.
