WE ARE CHRIST’S PRAYER PARTNERS - I Timothy 2:1-6

WE ARE CHRIST’S PRAYER PARTNERS - I Timothy 2:1-6

"Christ.....is at the right hand of God and is also interceeding for us." (Romans 8:34)

The father of John G.Paton, the famous missionary to the Herbides was mighty in prevailing prayer. Night after night in his little Scotch home, he audibly interceded for the unsaved of his village and the world. The most immoral, sinful woman in the village repeatedly said that the only thing that kept her from suicide and hell was that, at times in winter night she would creep close to the window of the Paton home, where she could hear Mr.Paton interceding in prayer. She heard him ask God that He would convert "the sinner from the error of his wicked ways and polish him as a jewel for the Redeemer's crown." She realized that she was a burden on the heart of Mr. Paton and believed that God would not disappoint him. She said it was that thought which kept her out of hell and at last led her to repentance and forgiveness of sin. (From “Mighty Prevailing Prayer”- Wesley Duewel)

Dear friends, we are chosen to be Christ’s prayer partners. He has seated us in the heavenlies beside Him on His throne and we are to intercede for others along with Jesus our great Intercessor. "If we are to have fellowship with Jesus Christ in His present work, we must spend much time in prayer. We must give ourselves to earnest, constant, persistent, sleepless overcoming prayer" writes Torrey. It is the Holy Spirit who gives us the desire to pray. A holy concern, desire or hunger in our hearts for the welfare of another person, particularly for their salvation is always an evidence that the Holy Spirit is conveying to us the heartbeat of God. And so whenever we pray this prayer for salvation we can be sure that it is the will of God to grant it. Let us not become weary if we do not see result immediately. Judson prayed, prevailed and suffered for seven years in Burma before he won his first soul. Morrison prayed and laboured for seven years before he brought his first Chinese person to Christ. Let us also persevere in intercession till we get answer from the Lord.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, you have chosen me to be your prayer partner. Let me know your heart’s longing and pray for the salvation of those people whom you burden me. Let them repent and accept your saving grace. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
