Your Life’s Purpose (Knowing God’s Will) - Romans 12:2

Your Life’s Purpose (Knowing God’s Will) - Romans 12:2

“Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect” Romans 12:2 (NLT).

WOW! This verse is jam-packed with awesomeness! Paul starts out with some good advice: Don’t look to the world for instructions on how to live your life; instead, allow God to transform you into a new person by changing the way you think.

Now that’s an awesome promise! We don’t have to change ourselves; in fact, we’re incapable of changing ourselves. Instead, we must allow God to transform us and change our very thoughts.

I love the idea that God will, if I allow Him, change my very thoughts. To be honest, my thoughts often get me into trouble, so it’s such a relief to know that I don’t have to try to change them on my own—I just need to give God permission to make the change within me.

But there’s more to this amazing verse. The last part is a promise that speaks to the deepest longing of my heart—to know God’s will for me! If I allow God to transform me, I will learn His will for my life, a will that is not only good and pleasing, but perfect—perfect! God’s will for me is perfect because He created me; His will is the very thing He created me to do—the purpose for my life.

How often have you wondered what your purpose in life is? How many years have you spent searching for it? How many sleepless nights have you spent wondering, “Why am I here?”

Well, look no further! The good news is that all you have to do to discover your purpose is to turn your life over to God and allow Him to transform you, changing the way you think. Only then will you finally find the place you were meant to be. Only then will you find your purpose.
